Spreading the Word

The Google Data APIs project ("GData" for short) started just over two years ago as a team of four engineers and an idea, that APIs should be built the REST way. Today, Google has launched eight GData APIs for services ranging from Blogger to Base, with more to come. Thanks to GData APIs, you can now get your Google Calendar on your cell phone, edit your Picasa photos online, or search the worlds open source code from within Eclipse. It's been a great two years, and during that time it's been my privilege to lead a team of very talented engineers as we pursued our vision.

With the announcement of the first worldwide
Google Developer Day, the GData team decided this would be a perfect opportunity to spread the word. GData engineers will be traveling to the four corners of the globe (if a globe can be said to have corners). We'll be out there to present, to teach, and (más importante!), to meet our developers face to face.

I'm muy feliz to have been invited to present the GData workshops in
Madrid, Spain . We have some great lessons prepared for you. I also want to take this opportunity to share with you some of the thing's we've learned about building GData and REST APIs, and if you're really good, maybe hint at a product or two we have in the pipeline.

¡Hasta el 31 de Mayo!

Mark Stahl
Tech Lead, GData APIs
